Chinese Factory Paper Packaging Printing Process

Custom Paper Packaging Printing

The printing methods used in paper packaging include all major printing methods, and offset printing, gravure printing, flexo printing, etc. are widely used. And the supporting post-processing forms are various, making the printing process of paper packaging products very flexible and changeable.

The technological process of paper packaging printing and processing is: packaging and decoration design, plate making, printing, and post-press processing.

Post-press processing includes surface finishing and forming processing, which are different for different paper packaging products, mainly including glazing, compounding, slitting, bag making, hot stamping, holographic hot stamping, cross cutting, die cutting, soft label cutting , winding, etc.

1. Printing and processing technology of carton

For cartons, there are mainly the following two printing processes.

(1) Carton design, plate making, printing (cardboard), die cutting and slotting. This is the traditional printing process method. The main printing methods are offset printing and flexographic printing. What is used is a unit type sheet-fed printing press production line.

(2) Carton design, plate making, carton pre-printing, cardboard processing, die-cutting and slotting, which is a modern printing process method. The main printing method is flexographic printing. Pre-printing is done on satellite flexo, unit offset or gravure lines.

2. Printing and processing technology of carton

For folding cartons, there are many ways of printing and processing, and the differences are also very large. Taking a cigarette pack as an example, there are at least the following printing processing methods, wherein the printing method can be offset printing, gravure printing or flexo printing, or a combination of different printing methods, such as:

Design, plate making, printing and die cutting;

Design, plate making, printing, hot stamping and die cutting;

Design – plate making – printing – hot stamping (I) – die cutting;

Design, plate making, composite (paper plastic), printing, hot stamping (UV), and die cutting;

Design, plate making, compounding (paper-plastic), peeling, printing, uv coating, and die cutting.

The finishing of the carton is the most complex and important process of all printed products. Taking common aseptic packaging (such as Tetra Pak, combi box, roof bag, etc.) as an example, the post-printing process includes: compounding, cutting, and bag making. Among them, the compounding process is the most important in the whole process, and it plays a decisive role in the packaging function of the whole container. For example, the paper container Tetra Pak, the printed semi-finished product is placed on the unwinding rack of the compound machine again, after four times of lamination, one time of aluminum foil (aluminum foil can prevent ultraviolet light and ensure the quality of the contents), and finally the roll is harvested. shape. The four-layer plastic of Tetra Pak is made of polyethylene or modified polyethylene resin with different thicknesses from the outer layer, composite layer, inner layer 1 and inner layer 2 respectively. Bonded with paper and aluminum foil.

3. Printing and processing technology of paper bags

For paper bags, the following two printing process routes are generally used.

Design, plate making, printing, cutting, bag making;

Design, plate making, printing, compounding, slitting, and bag making, or design, plate making, compounding, printing, slitting, and bag making, that is, compound first and then print, or vice versa.

The decoration design of paper packaging is an important means to facilitate use, convey product information, and promote sales. The decoration design of paper packaging is very important. When decorating and designing, we must first consider the requirements of commodity packaging and choose the appropriate style; secondly, we must consider the correct and appropriate use of patterns, words and colors, follow the principles of “scientific, beautiful, applicable, economical, and promotional”, and strive to design beautiful, with The sense of the times, decoration and nationality; in addition, the factors affecting the production, use and transportation of the product must also be considered, and the suitable printing and processing must be selected.

At the same time, in order to achieve the above design goals, advanced technology must be used, such as CAD (computer-aided design), CAM (computer-aided manufacturing), and professional software, such as packaging carton structure design professional software. Also consider the requirements of the output file format and the plate making system.
